Any web-search today will return a plethora of independent, factual reports proving conventional lights (incandescent, halogen, sodium and linear-fluorescent) have had their day.

Optoelectronic Lamps (solid-state LED’s) simply use less energy than almost any other type of lamp giving them a much longer life-span (typically 50,000hrs)
An incandescent light bulb by comparison, however, will fail at approximately 1,200hrs, a halogen lamp at approx 2,500hrs, a fluorescent at approx 12,000hrs and even a sodium lamp at approx 20,000hrs . Given there are only 8765.81hrs in a year, even if your business is a 24/7 operation, lighting replacement can be a costly and arduous process.

What is L70?

An LEDs’ efficiency and longevity can be measured by lumen maintenance and L70 is a minimum standard set by the IES (Illuminating Engineering Society)

Lumen maintenance measures the light produced by a light source when it’s brand new and also compares it with its light output at a specific time in the future. So a light source which emits 1,000 lumens when new and 700 lumens after 50,000 hours of use has a lumen maintenance of 70% at 50,000 hours. In other words, it has an L70 of 50,000 hours. Why L70? Simply because the human eye cannot detect the difference in a light’s output until it has reduced by 30%.

Environment
Energy efficient LED’s contain no mercury, no phosphor and no sodium. There is also no requirement for ballast which adds about 15% to any given lamp’s power rating (watts)
Therefore, they produce no poisonous gases, give off no UV and produce very little heat. In addition LED’s don’t flicker (causing headaches) and turn on instantly (improving safety).
